I am deeply dissatisfied with what is happening regarding the issue with Marijuana. The whole story with Marijuana legalization was initiated, in my view, by an old doctor to promote drugs containing cannabinoids for the treatment of diseases, eradicate the black market, reduce drug-related deaths, and allocate additional funds to education from the taxes obtained from cannabis sales. But the start of this noble idea turned out to be not as I imagined it. In this video, I will try to show what the situation with Marijuana was like at the beginning of 2020.

This article provides a historical overview of the prohibition and legalization of marijuana. It begins by mentioning that hemp, which is derived from the cannabis plant, has been used for various purposes such as paper, fabric, and medicine for thousands of years. However, in the United States, a negative image of hemp was created in the early 20th century, largely due to the efforts of media mogul William Hearst and the pharmaceutical corporation DuPont, who saw it as a threat to their businesses. The article highlights the passing of the Harrison Act in 1914, which marked the beginning of the "War on Drugs" in the US, and the subsequent labeling of marijuana as a narcotic by Harry J. Anslinger, the director of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. It also mentions the Prohibition era, during which marijuana became more popular as a substitute for alcohol. The article goes on to discuss the various legislative changes and campaigns against marijuana, as well as the gradual acceptance and legalization of its medical use in some states. It concludes by mentioning recent developments, such as the full decriminalization of marijuana in Uruguay and the legalization of its trade in California.

In this introductory video titled "Marijuana - it's not a drug," Isaak Damatov, a physician, challenges the classification of marijuana as a drug. He discusses the criteria used in recognizing substances as drugs, including the medical, social, and legal criteria. Damatov argues that marijuana does not meet the medical criterion as its effects are different from typical drugs. He also highlights that marijuana does not exhibit strong psychological or physical dependence, withdrawal syndrome, or decreased tolerance like traditional drugs do. Damatov questions the social criterion's applicability and suggests that it serves to support the legal criterion. He concludes that marijuana's therapeutic properties should be acknowledged and further explored.
